Bush Sr.: Your mother said you're really reborn. Well, as long as you stop drinking, you can call it what you want.
...and here we have exactly what religion has been good for, over the centuries: a lesser evil to replace a greater one. But the more education prevents people from becoming alcoholics, substance abusers, gamblers, addicts of any sort or criminals in general, the less gap there is for religion to fill.
